What to consider when hiring a jumping castle
Since their invention in the 1950s by American John Scurlock, jumping castles have been a popular feature at parties for children and adults alike.
Originally designed to protect tennis courts, Scurlock noticed that his inflatable covers could be bounced on and started working on a large inflatable mattress.
By the 1960s, inflatable walls were added for safety and different styles and designs were created. These inflatable castles are now a global phenomenon and provide children with the opportunity to exercise whilst having fun. It’s also more cost effective than you think!
Nowadays, an electric fan provides constant air pressure to maintain inflation of the castles which are made with a strong nylon and vinyl combination. This also allows air to exit the air cushions to let the castles bounce freely.
There are many different styles of bouncy castles aimed at different age groups and interests. There are a number of factors to consider when deciding what version to hire:
Before hiring a bouncy castle make sure there is enough space in which to use and store it. Ash Jumping Castles all show to Dimensions, weight and capacity on its website of each style. Make sure there is at least 1.1 metres available surrounding the inflatable and try and get a flat surface. Our large castles require a space of up to 7m x 8.1m.
Different age groups have different requirements when it comes to bouncy castles and other inflatable equipment such as inflatable slides. Younger users are more suited to smaller variations. Be sure to check the products age recommendation. Ash Jumping Castles has many options for kids and a website page for their adult jumping castles, obstacle courses and giant slides.
Different colours and themes of castles can be hired which will appeal to the users and the theme of your event or party. Some of our larger castles include the Dinosaur and Tinker Bell which are large combination castles including slides and climbing areas. Have a think about your party budget. Mini castles are great for small spaces and really great for a small number of young children. Ash Jumping Castles have mini versions for up to 10 children in a number of themes including Disney Princess, Peppa Pig and Paw Patrol. However a medium castle is more cost effective; it’s cheaper for a full day and also available for a half day (or four hours). Our Spiderman Jumper Jumping Castle Hire is particularly popular for kids superhero themed parties. Don’t forget there is a small delivery fee for your jumping castle, depending on your location.
For older kids, having a combo castle is a great idea. Some of our combos have slides and basketball hoops included as well as popups and side climbs. That should wear out those active kids and use up all the energy from sugary drinks! For extra competition, have a think about our 2-part inflated Commander Obstacle Course. This is suitable for kids and adults and will keep your guests busy for hours. We also have a cool and competitive Bungee Run. This new addition to our range is hilarious fun and perfect for corporate events. For the less competitive, the giant inflatable slide is also great for adults and kids over the age of three.
